Each year, juniors and seniors at Doniphan West take part in the Kansas Masonic Essay Contest. The first-place winner from the local lodge is submitted to the state lodge for consideration in the statewide competition. While no Doniphan West students were selected as state-level winners this year, Smithton Lodge No. 1 in Highland continues to show generous support by awarding scholarships to several students. This week, Anthony Rolfe with Smithton Lodge No. 1 visited Doniphan West High School to present the awards to the recipients.

Second place (tie): Lorene Peuker (senior) & Judd Prawl (junior)
Fourth place: Dustin Veach (junior)
