peptrophyThe Lady Mustangs are headed to the Class 2A state tournament after a hard-fought 39-35 victory over Wabaunsee in the sub-state championship played at Valley Heights on Saturday, March 8.

In a game defined by defensive intensity and clutch moments, the Lady Mustangs held a 19-15 advantage at halftime. The battle remained tight throughout, with Doniphan West clinging to a narrow 27-26 lead at the end of the third quarter. However, the Mustangs' relentless full-court press, fast breaks, and steady composure helped the Mustangs maintain control down the stretch and secure the win.

With the victory, Doniphan West (17-5) earns the No. 6 seed at state and will take on the No. 3 seed, the Chase County Bulldogs (20-3), in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 13, at 8:00 p.m. at the K-State Bramlage Coliseum. A win would propel the Lady Mustangs into the semifinals on Friday, March 14, at 8:00 p.m.

Doniphan West will look to carry its momentum into the state tournament as they prepare for the challenge ahead.
