The DWHS volleyball program engaged in community service and gave back to the local community.
Last summer, the team hosted two kids' clinics with a plan to split the profit.
Part of the funds went into the team’s fundraising account, which is used to support team bonding activities and purchase team apparel and equipment.
They used the remaining profit to purchase volleylites for the district. Volleylites are 25% lighter than regulation-sized balls, which helps young players develop early skills with reduced fear of impact. Volleylites make it a safer and more enjoyable learning experience for young players. The team raised enough money to purchase 32 volleylites, which the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade teams could check out during their fall season.
The high school team also wanted to help the younger kids increase their skill development and passion for volleyball. Each Wednesday from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m., the youth teams and their coaches were invited to the gym for organized drills, scrimmages, and teamwork-related activities. Over 35 girls in grades 3-6 attended on a weekly basis. Great job, Mustangs!
