The Eighth Grade Class at Doniphan West has been learning about the six simple machines. They have learned that the following are six simple machines: pulley, inclined plane, wedge, screw, lever and the wheel and axle. Students were given a challenge to combine all of the simple machines to work together to form a Rube Goldberg Machine. After three class periods of work time, the end result was rewarding. Layla Kuhnert commented, “ I enjoyed learning about simple machines and working in a group. Once the project was completed the students had to illustrate their drawing and label all of the simple machines and the measurement of each section of the project.
