The National School Counseling Week is being celebrated this week. Elementary students donated a quarter to help purchase a gift for our Social Worker, Mr. Peterson. He sat in his new chair beside his cooler of snacks during morning bus duty. Students helped decorate his door with thoughtful comments and a dinner was provided by the staff. We love Mr. Peterson!

The Sixth Grade Students became teachers this week!
The Sixth Grade classes have been studying Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning (CER) through TV commercials. For their final project, they developed a lesson plan and an experiment to teach the Third and Fourth Graders about CER!

Free Developmental Screening dates for children ages 3-5 living in Doniphan County have been set. Please call the school to set up a screening for your child.

This is 962 pounds of locally-grown beef destined to fuel the minds and bodies of DWest students! Thanks to our donor (who wishes to remain anonymous), DWest was able to get this beef processed at Diamond C Foods in Atchison. The donor can get a tax write-off, and DWest gets high quality food at a great price!
USD 111 Doniphan West Schools will have a 2 hour delay start today, January 19. Breakfast will be served. There will be no morning pre-school classes. Afternoon pre-school will be as normal.
On Thursday, December 15th, 2nd grade took an afternoon field trip to Van's Model Trains in Fairview. They were amazed with their detailed train displays. Thank you, Cleo and Elvon Vandalsem, for hosting our 2nd graders!
The 3rd and 4th grades had a blast at the Science Center in Union Station! They got to do lots of hands on learning and exploring!
1st and 2nd Grade Field Trip to Missouri Western. Students toured the indoor sports complex and the planetarium.
Balloons Over Broadway STEM
2nd Grade students watched parts of the 2021 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and read the book Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet.
Students then partnered to create a balloon that would "float" down Broadway.
Today we enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal.
